PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

HAVE YOU ACTIONED COURSE CONFIRMATION – 2025 Curriculum Payments?
Parent Payments for 2025 are being sent out this week, so please ensure that this payment is put at the top of the list to ensure the school is able to prepare early and purchase the required resources and equipment for the coming year. Please note that this should be prioritised over all optional items like camp.
ย
Intentions to Leave
Term Four is always dominated with planning for the following year โ grade and staff selection, budgets, enrolments and more. We have asked this before, and families have been very good in letting us know, but if any other families are intending to leave our school community in 2025 because of relocation or other reason, could you please advise us as soon as possible. A phone call to the office, or an email to the school or my email account asap would be most appreciated.
REMINDERS
CURRICULUM DAY (ASSESSMENT & REPORTING) – MONDAY 4TH NOVEMBER
MELBOURNE CUP PUBLIC HOLIDAY โ TUESDAY 5th NOVEMBER
Tuesday the 5th of November is Melbourne Cup Day, this is a PUBLIC HOLIDAY. The school will be closed on this day. The Monday prior to this is generally a very quiet day at school, with many of our families opting to use this as a long weekend. As a staff we have allocated the day for our mandated requirements around Assessment and Reporting.

World Teachersโ Day 2024 IS NEXT WEEK
On Friday 25th of October, the world celebrates teachers. Wandong is blessed with the best teachers in the world (Iโm not biased eitherJ) so please find a way to cherish your childโs teacher. We have a strong culture of gratitude and I know that every note, email, card, token gift, kind word does not go unnoticed. In fact, it is often shared far and wide in our staffroom. Our teachers arrive early, leave late, miss personal functions to attend school events and constantly put in well and above for our wonderful kids. Please show them you care in your own small way. ๐
Hats At School in Term 4 โ no hat, no play
Even though the sun seems to come and go, students are still required to wear a school broad brimmed hat. This is to ensure we are meeting our obligations in our SunSmart Policy. Hats will be required to be worn daily during Term 1 & Term 4, 2025. All students must wear a sun protective hat that shades the face, neck and ears for all outdoor activities.

WELLBEING
Managing Changes Within Life and Friendships
In Grade 5/6, we learned that change is a natural part of life and also a natural thing to happen in friendships. Change does not always have to be negative. It also doesnโt have to be a huge change โ like changing schools. It can be as little as not being in the same classroom every day.
We discussed examples of how their friendships might have changed in the past and how it made us feel. Changes arenโt always negative, but when they are โ how can we understand why the change has happened and develop strategies to help us manage change?
Students looked at prompts for changes that might happen in friendships, such as:
- Meeting someone new
- Small disagreements
- Having an argument
- Going to high school
- Both making new friends
- Not keeping in contact/growing apart
In small groups, they identified how each scenario would make them feel. They found it interesting to see that some made people feel completely different emotions. For example, meeting someone new might make some feel happy or excited, while others might feel nervous.
Students worked together to brainstorm how they could manage these changes in a positive and healthy way โ or advice they could give others. When meeting someone new, some advice suggested included:

- Stay confident
- Make sure to be nice and use manners
- Encourage others
- Be yourself
- Ask questions about themselves
- View it as something cool to happen because you never know what to expect

Students were able to look at the changes in their near future โ like a new grade or going to high school โ and consider how this advice could help them.

OFFICE NOTICES
Office Hours : - 8:30am until 3:55pm
Picking Up Children โ Please help our admin team!
In exceptional circumstances and emergencies, at times children need to be collected from school early. Please help our wonderful administration team by ensuring that this is not done during the break times of 11:00-11:30am and 1:45-2:30pm. When children are outside playing with their friends, they do not hear the announcements and it is difficult to have a staff member unlock classrooms to collect bags and belongings. Please help support our classroom programs by waiting until 3:30pm to collect children. The admin area is growing quite hectic in the afternoons with families collecting children early. Thank you in advance for your support and understanding.
IMPORTANT: โ Mobile Phone/Watch/Device Policy
In 2020, DET introduced strict restrictions on the use of any device with access to a cellular system, with or without a physical connection to a network. Where students bring a device of this type to school, it MUST be placed in secure storage at the office.
IMPORTANT: โ Student Information
It is very important we have up-to-date information for all students. Please check Compass and update current home & email address, phone numbers & medical details.

Reminder: –
Hats must be worn throughout Term Four & Term one outside. If they don’t have a hat, they can only play in a shaded area.
ย **Kids can get messy, please be organised & keep an extra set of clothes in your childโs bag for emergencies.
UNIFORM
IMPORTANT
**Please remember to put your child’s full name on their uniform. Please don’t use initials, as this makes it harder for us to find the owner.
If you order a bag, the order can be placed in your child’s or siblings’ tub for convenience. If not, you will need to supply a bag or make arrangements to collect your order.

Payment Terms & Withdrawal from the Instrumental Music Program

being stooped until payment has been made.

program will automatically continue lessons each term. A verbal or written
notification to the instrumental teacher is required to withdraw students
from the program. Notice needs to be received 2 weeks prior to the end
