Performing Arts


Foundation

Students in Foundation will be undertaking music activities in term three.

They will be learning about beat and rhythm.

They will learn how to use a variety of different instruments to create a variety of beats and rhythms such as drums, tambourines, sticks and maracas.

Students will be given different pieces of music where they will need to work as a team and create the beat and rhythm using a variety of instruments and present this to their peers.

Students will be learning a variety of different songs which they will accompany with their musical instrument that they have learnt to use.



Grade One/Two

Students in Grade One Two will be undertaking music activities in term three.

They will be learning about beat and rhythm.

They will learn to use a variety of different instruments to create a variety of beats and rhythms such as drums, tambourines, sticks and maracas.

Students will learn how to recognise basic music notes and how to use instruments to match these music notes in group tasks.

They will learn using drumsticks to create beat and rhythm and transfer this knowledge to buckets. The students will learn some basic beats and rhythms on the buckets which they will perform in front of their peers.

Students will encompass all they have learnt by creating their own pieces of music in groups that they will perform for a small audience.


Grade Three/Four

Students in Grade Three Four will be undertaking music activities in term three.

They will be learning about beat and rhythm.

Students will learn the basic notes of music and how to add the beat and rhythm using hands and musical instruments.

They will be learning how to play the recorder by starting with basic songs using the simple notes and then progressing as they become more confident. Each individual student will have a book of recorder songs to learn and will practise them at their own pace and have them checked off by the teacher. The students will perform in front of their peers’ songs they have practised.

Students will be learning the basics of guitar and how strum simple chords.



Grade Five/Six

 

Students in Grade Five Six will be undertaking music activities in term three.

They will be learning about beat and rhythm.

Students will be learning the basic chords of guitar and working through a mass of songs through different on line lessons. These songs begin with easy chords and progress to more complicated ones.

At the end of the program the students will choose a song and perform with some peers to the rest of the grade.

Students will be learning about Rap songs and encouraged to create their own version of a Rap song to perform to their peers.

Students will be encouraged to provide their peers feedback after watching performances.
